I needlessly shot myself (and/or the solve?) in the foot with this one by including another legitimate (and viable) possibility for "hard place" with the inclusion of Aubrey Plaza. The toughest element of this hunt, which several people did in fact get, was meant to force you into the realization that Lady Gaga should be seated between Emma Stone a.k.a. "a rock," and Eddie Murphy a.k.a. the "Eddy" a.k.a. the whirlpool a.k.a. "a hard place," as the origin of that phrase derived from the Greek myth wherein sailors were forced to make passage on the Strait of Messina by choosing between facing the rock (Scylla, the cliff monster) and the hard place (Charybdis, the whirlpool). Logic upon logic upon logic led to the rest falling into place in one of several variations that we ultimately accepted as correct. If you want to piece it back together in reverse, the solve we were initially going for was: "fonda thompson hayes bateman stone"
